So That Happened Pt. 2: I was on Bill Maher and...

Last week I had what I knew going in was a rare showbiz occurrence. I was booked to appear on Comedy Central’s @midnight with Chris Hardwick and on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher. For now, I believe that I alone hold that distinction. Call the Comedy Hall of Fame and bronze my parking passes! When I realized I was going to do both shows in the same week, I knew I was up for a challenge. Before the week began I couldn’t imagine two more different shows for a comic to appear on. But now that the week is over I know that they have one thing in common. Both are basically game shows. Sure there are differences. Bill doesn’t scream, “POINTS!” like Chris does on his show. And you don’t get bathed in red light when you lose on Real Time, although you do get bathed in Bill’s red glare.

ICYMI, here’s the clip.

So yeah, I (apparently) lost a game on Bill’s show that I didn’t know I was playing. The game was “Gotcha!” And according to the Internet (and the number of misspelled and nigger filled --- the word, not the people --- tweets in my timeline), I got gotcha’ed!

Here’s what went down from my (totally biased) perspective. Bill read a Paul Ryan quote from a radio interview on Bill Bennett’s show. The panel had been given the quote before the show. And then he asked if it was okay to infer that Ryan was talking about people of color without saying the words. The panel had also been told that this was going to happen. In fact, I had been told right before the show taped to jump in first on this one because --- and I quote --- “As an African-American Bill is going to want to hear your perspective.” Anyone who knows me knows I’m a sucker for conversations about race and racism in America. Well, I got played for a sucker.

After the question came up, I basically said (FIRST!) that the quote was clearly about race, Bill read a second quote that he said was from Paul Ryan, and I snickered. And then Bill made that famous Bill Maher face that we all know (and many love). And he declared that the second quote was from Michelle Obama. Duh, duh, duuuuuuuh!

The studio was silent at that. But Bill seemed to believe it was the kind of stunned silence that followed when (Breaking Bad spoiler alert) that blonde dude killed that kid on the bicycle on Breaking Bad. But I believe it was the stunned silence of...

“DUUUUUUUUDE! Why did you just lie to us like that? We trust you! Now we’re confused! What’s next? Are you going to say Kim Kardashian said it?”

Then Bill put the quote to me... Well on me more accurately, he put it on me. As if I was a representative of The Obamas. When I know he's a waaaaay bigger Obama fan than me. How do I know that? He gave them a million bucks. I gave them $30. Even by percentage of our incomes he's more into them than me.

But that was when I realized I was in a game of “Gotcha!” And then my private school high school diploma kicked in. I needed more information. So I asked where Michelle Obama had said that. Bill answered that it was at Bowie State University. Then my Blackness sensor kicked in, and I surmised knew it was an historically black college, even though I had never heard of it before. Thanks for all the training, mom! I knew I wasn't a sucker!

And my response to Bill got my biggest laugh of the night. I said to Bill that Black people talk to each other differently when we aren’t around white people. (True. Sorry, White people.) I thought that would be that. But this clip has turned out to be a Rorschach test for ignorance. If you think he gotcha'ed me or the panel, I feel sorry for you.

And the real freaking bummer of all of this is that there is an awesome conversation to be had in the two different quotes from Ryan and the First Lady.

1. Is there a difference between what Paul Ryan said and what Michelle Obama said? (Yes, it’s called context.) 2. What is the difference between “othering” and “identifying”? (In one you are outside of the group of which you speak – Ryan. In the second you are a member of the group you are talking about – Michelle Obama was raised on the South Side of Chicago. It doesn’t get much “blacker”.) 3. Does context change the meaning of rhetoric? (Yes. Dramatically.) 4. Does Michelle Obama’s quote being pulled out of the middle of a commencement address that was in front of an audience of people who likely have direct relationships to the issues she is referencing play substantially differently than two white Neo-Cons in the echo chamber of conservative talk radio? (Umm… Yes.) 5. Is Michelle Obama's quote potentially problematic? (Sure. But let's discuss and... Oops, Bill says we're moving on.)

But Bill obviously didn’t want to have that conversation because if he had, he woulda had his awesome and gracious staff give the panel the Michelle Obama quote, too. He wanted to play “Gotcha!” Hey, good on him. It’s easy to trip people up if that is your sole intention. Go outside right now and see how many people you can trip while they walk around. I guessing it’s damn near 100%. Does it feel good? Not to me.

But again, who am I to judge? Bill’s got the rightfully acclaimed, long running hit show, and mine was canceled. I’m not even sure why he would waste his time gotcha’ing me. Was Al Sharpton not available?

Last week before the show I jokingly started a hashtag, #LetsAllHaveAThoughtfulDiscussion.

The joke being that it would never trend. It didn’t. But that’s actually what I am totally into. I have been closing my current stand-up tour talking about how the one sure way to initiate change is to have more awkward conversations. (Don’t worry. There’s a dick joke mixed in there to thin out the sure to come Nobel Peace Prize nomination.) But I believe in the power of the awkward conversation to bring people together. But this thing was just awkward.

VIP Tour Upgrades to Benefit Race Forward!

I am trying to help out my friends at Race Forward (formerly the ARC; they produce Colorlines, which many of you know) with some fundraising this year (full disclosure - I am a member of their advisory board). So I'm offering these special VIP Upgrade Packages in every city of my tour, to benefit Race Forward. If you already have a ticket, you can buy one of these packages for $55* and it will include a VIP meet and greet with me after the show, and an autographed, personalized tour poster. I love these posters. My friend Dima Drjuchin made them! But most importantly you get to help an amazing organization that is on the frontlines of racial justice.

"Oh, Everything" Comedy Tour Begins + New Cities!

It's time to head out on the first leg of my new stand-up comedy tour, “Oh, Everything!” I’m excited…. And nervous… And I don’t know if I’m elated or gassy but I’m somewhere in that zone. (FROZEN REFERENCE! I have a 2 1/2 daughter who is addicted to it… Screw it. As am I.) Tonight the tour begins in Bloomington, Indiana! Then we go to St. Louis, Chicago, Denver, Portland, OR, and Oakland. And today I am also happy to announce the second leg of the tour featuring several cities that I have never performed in before: Chapel Hill, NC, Charleston, SC, and Cambridge, MA. And yes, there is finally a New York date… Well, actually BROOKLYN! Because… Brooklyn.

For the new tour cities, I was able to get a limited number of fanclub tickets for you guys that will be on sale TODAY at 10am ET. These tickets are direct-from-me with no fees! Full list of tour dates and ticket links HERE.

Bloomington Book Drive

If you are coming to my show in Bloomington tomorrow, I am doing a book drive with this local non-profit called Pages to Prisoners. By providing free books upon request, they hope to promote rehabilitation and reintegration, and to stimulate critical thinking behind bars. If you want to support, bring a book* (or 2 or 3!) that you don't want anymore to the show. Local bookstore, Boxcar Books, will be on hand to collect your donated books, which will get you entry to a VIP meet and greet with yours truly after the show.

If you don't have tickets yet, there are still a few left here!

* Here is some info on what kinds of books they need and don't need:

What We Don't Need

Romance Novels Popular Fiction geared only to a female audience (the majority of the people who request books from our project are men) Books about popular culture that are older than 10-15 years old Reader's Digest condensed versions of books "Gift" books Very advanced/specialized textbooks or other academic books Multivolume Encyclopedias Books for young children Travel guidebooks True crime (many facilities prohibit these books) GRE test prep books Legal theory books, property, business law

Note: As many prisons and jails prohibit hardcover books, they are much less useful to our project than paperback ones.

What We Always Need

These are books that are often requested but not often donated.

New or like new books Mystery/thriller/suspense/horror/adventure Sci-fi/Fantasy Westerns African-American studies or fiction with African-American characters "Life skills" - personal finance, job skills, etc. Entrepreneurship/Real Estate/Small Business Spanish language books Technical and Vocational Skills (carpentr, auto mechanics, electronics, HVAC, etc.) Basic high school level textbooks for math and science Criminal and civil-rights law books, criminal case law, self-help legal books GED test prep books

HeyEverybody! Check out my awesome new poster for my new stand-up comedy tour, called "Oh, Everything!" It was made by Dima Drjuchin. I love it so much! Please share it with THE WORLD!

My #OhEverything stand-up comedy tour. Adding dates now!

Oh, Everything! - A New Comedy Tour!

Hey People, Good to talk to you. It's been a while. I hope your holidays were good. And I hope you are geared up for a productive and fruitful Black History Month. I have been laying low for a little bit... have hardly even Facebook-ed or Tweet-ed. (I KNOW! HOW DID I EVEN KNOW IF I WAS ALIVE???) But that mostly ends today. I am in the process of putting together the first major comedy tour that I've ever done and today I'm announcing the first leg of dates. And yes, this is just the first leg, so if you don't see your city on here --- or you don't see something within reasonable driving distance of your city --- hold tight, we're still working on it. Many of these cities on this list are my favorites but I truly hope to get out to some places I've never been before.

The name of the tour is "Oh, Everything!" which is the thing I say when I get super frustrated by life and can't exactly put into words why everything sucks so much. I find it to be very calming and centering. When life gets you down but you don't have time to get into a whole thing, just look to the skies and say, "Oh, Everything!"

All of these shows (except Miami) will be ON SALE on Wednesday, 2/5 at 10am local time. But you can get tickets EARLY (and wih NO ticketing fees) directly from me, starting tomorrow, Tuesday 2/4 at 10am PT!

Miami will be on sale on Friday, 2/7 at 10am local time, or you can also get those early and directly from me with no ticketing fees on Wednesday, 2/5 at 10am ET.

THE OH, EVERYTHING! STAND-UP COMEDY TOUR DATES:

3/12 Comedy Attic - Bloomington, IN 3/13 Blueberry Hill Duck Room - St. Louis, MO 3/14 Lincoln Hall - Chicago, IL 3/16 Soiled Dove Underground - Denver, CO 3/17 Doug Fir Lounge - Portland, OR 3/19 & 20 The New Parish - Oakland, CA 4/3 The Fillmore - South Beach Comedy Festival - Miami, FL

GET FAN CLUB PRE-SALE TICKETS HERE (starting 2/4 at 10am PT)

Also I'd like give a special shout out to the crew of Totally Biased. We were just nominated for a GLAAD Award for the episode with Laverne Cox from Orange Is The New Black. I'm super proud that all that hard work is being recognized by such a great organization.

Hope to see you out there somewhere.

A Baker's Dozen of My Favorite "Totally Biased" Clips

This is a baker’s dozen of some of my favorite clips from Totally Biased. When we did these pieces, I truly felt like we were making the kind of TV that I wanted to see. Obviously everybody on the show isn't visibly represented or mentioned here but they all contributed jokes and ideas to the pieces on this this list. (Get their names on IMDB.) And this isn’t even close to everything that I loved on the show, but as far as I know, there’s no such thing as a baker’s 37.

Sikhs vs Sheiks

This was from the very first episode. The thing I remember most about this one was how it was written. When the shooting at the Sikh temple in Wisconsin happened, we knew that we had to figure out a way to cover it. There were a couple different drafts of this piece written and they just didn't feel right. So all the writers (a couple producers… and even Vernon Reid of Living Colour - The map was his idea.) got in the writers room. And we banged it out. We were all laughing, and I knew it felt good, but I was afraid with all the real tragedy in the story that it would literally be too soon. We rehearsed it several times. Chris Rock really put me through my paces that day. And our producer, Rachel Linhart said, “You gotta have a Sith!” She was right. True collaboration, pulling in one awesome direction.

Anything to Say to a White Guy

This was Ethan Berlin’s idea. Ethan was a writer on the show at that time. He later became a producer. The thing I remember most about this clip is that during the beginning of the shoot, we had Ethan playing “the white guy” as some sort of representative of white people, and that just wasn’t working. It just wasn’t funny. But when Ethan just acted like himself, it was immediately funnier. Everybody let their guard down. And people really had interesting things to say. I love this clip because it is funny but people are also being reeeeeeeeal and making some points. This is one of the many times we shot in Harlem. Harlem never let us down. Harlem, I hope we didn’t let you down.

Spelling Bee

Hari Kondabolu has been one of my favorite comedians since I met him in 2008. He always said he was going to be a writer on my TV show waaaaay before there was a TV show to write on. He is also a great friend. I am super proud and lucky to have been able to present him on the show. I love this piece because it is the kind of comedy I wanted Totally Biased to always do: heartfelt and fierce. Also, I'll forever remember the phrase, "SIX IN A ROW, SON!"

Also see Kevin Kataoka’s Asian Invasion.

Lindy West & Jim Norton

I was really fortunate to have so many talented writers to work with on Totally Biased. There is personal pride in this one though, because it was my idea. I just knew that if we got Lindy West and Jim Norton together that an intelligent, witty, and non-yelling conversation could be had about an important issue. They were awesome. They set a high standard that the show knew was going to be difficult to match.

Also see the God Debate and the Redskins Debate.

Frederick Douglass

I have known Dwayne Kennedy since my early days of comedy. He is a great friend and my first mentor in comedy. He is the ultimate comic’s comic. And he’s an extremely hard person to pin down. I knew I wanted him on the show, because his comic voice is undeniable. Everyone who spends anytime with Dwayne ends up talking like him whether they want to or not, bub. DAMMIT!

Also see Aparna Nancherla’s Russian tale, Eliza “Zeke” Skinner, and TV’s Frank Conniff.

Cheerios

One thing I knew I wanted Totally Biased to be was personal. And the Cheerios commercial featuring the mixed race family and the ridiculous online uproar was aimed right at me and my family. So I aimed right back… with the help of my fellow writers, producers, graphics department, staff, and interns.

Catcalling

I have always said that some of my favorite moments in my career is when I’m learning right along with the audience. Well, this clip is that. (Well, in this case, I’m learning along with many of the men in the audience.) When we released this clip online it didn’t get that much attention initially. But it continues to find life as a way for people to find a funny way to open a discussion about catcalling. I’m proud that we made some comedy that gives the correct side a megaphone to the world. That is what I wanted Totally Biased to do. This clip was the brainchild of writer and comedian and fellow SF comic Nato Green. (P.S. I hated doing the megaphone part of the piece, but it works. I don’t know nothin’.)

Also see Stop & Frisk.

No More Mr. Nice Gay Football

Whenever I talked to anyone about correspondent pieces on the show, THIS is the one I would reference. I could have maybe done all the jokes that Guy Branum does in this piece but they ALL mean much more coming from him. (Possibly because he wrote them too.) Giving the person with the biggest stake in the issue the bully pulpit to shout from was very important to me during the show. One of my favorite memories from the entire show is that when we taped this I was standing off to the side of the stage. I had a view of Guy and the audience. Seeing the discomforted looks on some of the (I guessing straight) dudes faces as Guy expertly took apart the nuances of football and homophobia was amazing.

Tracy off

This clip is surreal for me on so many levels. I have known Janine Brito since she was a comic who had just moved to the Bay Area and who usually rocked hoodies over bow ties. I tried to provide the same help and advice to her that Dwayne had given to me. So sharing the stage with her so much on Totally Biased was a always a little bit of a “WOW!” moment. She did a lot of great things on the show but this stands out to me. Janine only found out that she could do a Tracy Morgan impersonation when I asked her to try it during the filming a pre-pilot we were going to show to Chris Rock. This was right after Tracy had his incident in Nashville. And the only piece of material that made it from that pre-pilot, to the pilot, to the actual show was Janine’s Tracy Morgan impersonation. And to have her do it WITH Tracy Morgan was epic. And to address some of the push back that we had from putting Tracy on the show, I humbly submit this from GLAAD.

Also see Aparna Nancherla prints a gun.

Kristina Wong Interview

I had some awesome interviews on Totally Biased. Some of the most biased moments happened during those conversations. But talking to Kristina Wong was an unexpected pleasure. Right after the interview was over and I walked offstage I said to whoever would listen, “She came to WIN!” Thank you, Kristina, for being on the show.

Also see Amber Galloway Gallego, Dr. Yaba Blay

Spirit of Stonewall

A history lesson that features some jokes. This is was a great day at the office. It was Guy Branum’s idea. Guy Branum brought Sherry Vine in to do it. And Sherry brought it home… with a brick. No other show on television was going to cover this moment in this way.

Also see Hannibal Buress, Relationship Expert and Florida Intervention

Unlocking The Truth performance

One of our producers, the amazing Kristine Pregot, really GOT the whole idea of the show in a major way. And she had worked on something with Unlocking The Truth before. And whenever we would ask if anybody had any ideas for the show Kristine would bring up Unlocking The Truth. Thank you Black Jesus, I was smart enough to listen to her. It was an honor to have them on the show.

Also see Reggie Watts, Grit & Grin, and Death

Sikh Captain America

This aired in the second to last week of our show. It is EXACTLY what I want the show to do. A real issue, jokes that highlight but don’t make fun the issue, and a random Dwayne Kennedy sighting. Hari brought in the Salon.com article that reported the first time Vishavjit Singh went out as Captain America. Hari KNEW we had lightning in a bottle and insisted that we do this piece. Thanks, for insisting, sir.

So...that happened

So… that happened.

That is one of my favorite lines in the history of film. It is from David Mamet’s brilliant State and Main. It comes out of the mouth of Alec Baldwin’s character right after he totals his car and the underage girl he was --- and shouldn’t have been ---with runs from the scene of the crimes. Alec casually looks to the person who witnessed the whole thing and says, matter of factly, “So… that happened.”

I always took that to mean, “I don’t know what the fuck that was exactly, but it happened. And now we all just have to deal with it and move on.”
Yup, Totally Biased has been canceled.

So… that happened.

Although what DID happen with Totally Biased has happened thousands of times in the history of show business… nay the world. It goes like this. Person gets job. Person works hard at job. Person loses job. My whole career I’ve seen talented comics get opportunities that I thought, “WOW! That is definitely going to be the THING for her!” And then I’ve seen that thing not become the THING. This is just my time for that. I thought Totally Biased was going to be my “THING!” I worked hard to make it so, and it didn’t happen. So now I get the chance to find a new “THING” and to see how that goes. That’s amazing. The show was canceled. I’m not canceled. 99.999% of stand-up comics don’t get this far. If I’m really lucky, what we did on Totally Biased will be remembered long after it stops airing. Heck, my mom is still mad that they canceled Frank’s Place. (Google it. It was great.)

The one thing I truly hope is that whoever the next comic is to be considered for a show doesn’t get judged by my lack of… you know… still having show. I hope John Landgraf and the beautiful people at FX (and FXX) continue to take chances on the underdogs. Their batting average is kind of amazing. I hope this doesn’t bum them out too much.

I am very proud of Totally Biased. The Lindy West / Jim Norton debate was amazing. For the rest of my career I will chase the highs of Sikh vs Sheikh. Hell, I got to talk to Rachel Maddow for nearly TEN MINUTES! I learned I like talking to random people on the street about real things; (I will be more proud of Anything to Say to a White Guy than anything else I do in my career.) Also I got to have one of my heroes, Vernon Reid of Living Colour, write me a theme song. I was able to work closely with the comedy Jedi Chris Rock. And, above it all, I was able to employ some awesome comics with original voices. Many of whom are my friends… and who will hopefully forgive how crazy I have been the last several months.

There are so many people who worked on the show. So many talented people who have much more experience in TV than I have (not hard to beat since I had none before this.) And they humbled themselves to pull in my direction, even when they sometimes had no idea where we were all headed. I appreciate all of their support. I will never forget it.

Most importantly, when Totally Biased was at it’s best it gave comedic voice to people and issues that do not often get that space on television. (I am overwhelmed by the love the show is getting now.) I tried. I really tried. And I’ll keep trying somewhere else.

Who knows what the next thing will be? (Seriously, who knows? I need a job. --- Kidding… Mostly.) I am literally boiling over with ideas, and I can’t wait to get started. I am excited to get back into stand-up in a big way. I can’t wait to get my voice back. Many of you who watched Totally Biased have only seen a sliver of the real me. Check out my Fresh Air interview with Terry Gross for a more distilled version. But until then, I will see you on Twitter, Facebook, and in a city near you. I have a lot to say.

Thank you for your support. And still remember to stay totally biased.

Now, I’m gonna go update my LinkedIn profile.

Stand-Up Show on August 24th

A year ago today on August 9th 2012 a little show named Totally Biased premiered. It was weekly; FX gave us 6 episodes to figure it out. Well now here we are in our new offices in pre-production for our daily show, premiering on September 4th at 11pm on FXX. What a long, strange trip it's being and yes, that was a Grateful Dead reference.

I'm excited for the return of the new Totally Biased. Me and the writers had a great summer on our stand-up tour. And I don't know if you've heard but I did a panel at the Television Critics Association and said some things that the extreme right wing of America wasn't so happy about (and even some on the pretend left wing).

And if you happen to be in the New York area later this month, me and some of the writers from Totally Biased are doing a stand-up comedy show as part of the AFROPUNK FEST in Brooklyn on Saturday, August 24th. It features me, Hari Kondabolu, Aparna Nancherla and Janine Brito. It's a great show and it's only $15 - you can get tickets here.

That's all for now. As always, thank you for your support. I literally couldn't be here without you.

Well, you and my mom...and my dad...and my wife...ok I'm gonna stop :)

TOTALLY BIASED is BACK!

Hello friends! I know we’ve been gone for a while, but... TOTALLY BIASED IS BACK TOMORROW! With special guest MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY. You’re welcome #nerdland. We have 7 more episodes before summer. That means 7 more chances to be a part of our live audience in NYC! Get your FREE tickets HERE.

This has been a very exciting time for the FX Network family since it has announced the launch of a sister network, FXX starting in September. And guess what show will be on FXX 5 nights a week...  Thats right, TOTALLY BIASED! Crazy, right?  FXX will also be home to other amazing comedy shows, like “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Archer,” “The League,” and “Arrested Development” to name a few. It’s because of all your kind words and support that this was possible so on behalf of the whole crew I wanna thank you so much! Keep tuning in and spreading the word.

On May 15th you can catch me on “KATIE” with Katie Couric at 3pm ET. The last morning show I invaded was “The View,” and believe me, Katie enjoyed my comedy way more than Barbara Walters did!

And... I have a huge announcement involving my summer plans and hopefully yours!  Check back Wednesday for the update.

See you out there.

I'm coming to SF, Oakland, DC, NYC!

SAN FRANCISCO / OAKLANDSo some of you may have heard that I am doing a couple of shows at Stage Werx on March 23 and 24. They are benefit shows. 100% of the proceeds are going to Stage Werx, because I love them and they have been very supportive of me over the years and I've done a lot of things there. Fortunately for Stage Werx, the shows sold out very quickly, thanks to articles like this one. And also fortunately for any of you who didn’t get tickets, I decided to put on another show in the Bay Area, in Oakland, at my favorite Oakland venue, The New Parish, on April 7. A portion of the proceeds of this show will benefit The Applied Research Center, who runs Colorlines.com, because I love them. You can get tickets here.

WASHINGTON DC The Kamau Mau Uprising Stand-up Tour is coming to Washington, DC on April 21! I am super excited to be back in DC doing stand-up. I know this is not a lot of warning but if you are in the DC/Baltimore/Virginia area I'd LOOOOOOOOVE to see you out there. I'm bringing Totally Biased's own Aparna Nancherla to open for me. So it promises to be a great show. Here is the link for presale tickets.

The fanclub presale starts TODAY, March 20, at 10am through March 21 at 10pm. Then we open it up to the general public, so get the good seats now! PRESALE TICKETS HERE (the password is milkshakes).

NEW YORK CITY I am making my New York City comedy club headlining debut at the historic Caroline's Comedy Club, April 25 - 28. This a legendary NYC venue. It's been featured in Louis CK's show, Louie, and it was it's on TV show, The Caroline Comedy Hour. I even got to open for Dick Gregory twice there what seems like a million years go but is actually probably two. I have convinced the club to give people on my list a discount code. So if you are in the NYC area, come on through. TICKETS HERE. The code is milkshakes and that will get you $5 off.

CHECK OUT MY FRIENDS Sometimes I want you people to go do other things that aren't so WKB centric, so...

Go see Living Colour on tour! (Vernon Reid wrote the Totally Biased theme song.) Check out Nato Green's new podcast The Nato Sessions (If you're near SF you can go see it live.)

See you out there, Kamau

Totally Biased Break, SXSW + Tee Shirt Discount for YOU!

WOW! So we taped episode 19 of "Totally Biased," and now we have a little bit of a break before we start up with our next 7 episodes on May 9th. I know I said this before, but it's a crazy to have started with 6 and now to be where we are with 19 under our collective belts. I just want to thank to the people at FX, my manager Keri, and the continued mentorship/stewardship/chrisrockship of Chris Rock. But also let me take this opportunity to thank all of the writers and staff of "Totally Biased," who have way more TV production experience than I do, and who have been really generous about helping me get through this process. I am proud of all of the episodes of "Totally Biased," but I am especially proud of these last 6. It just feels like we're starting to hit a groove.

Although it's a break from "Totally Biased," it's not completely a break for me. I have a bunch of college shows to do, and I'll be at SXSW with several of the writers from Totally Biased. Check out my full schedule here. I also plan to check out a Living Colour concert in NY and/or SF. WHOOOHOOO!

And now for the moment you've all been waiting for. I still have a few of those tees left with my face on them, and I know what you've been thinking: "I would like a t-shirt with W. Kamau Bell's face on it, but it's a little too expensive." Well now I have a discount for you. For a limited time (until we run out) you can get these half price HERE.

BUY ME

And I know it's been a while since we talked. I just want to thank you all for your support for me and for "Totally Biased." Here are a few of my favorite clips from recent episodes, for you to check out and hopefully use to spread the word. I couldn't do it without you, literally.

Thanks,

Kamau
