The 2018 Impact Celebration recognizes Fred Finch’s impact on the community over more than one and a quarter centuries. Featuring sociopolitical author, comedian and television host W. Kamau Bell as facilitator, the event will include a panel discussion on the impact of and recovery from trauma. The presentation will conclude with the delivery of the 3rd Annual John F. Steinfirst Community Award to be presented in honor of Dr. Prince White. Dr. White, a deputy director for the Oakland social justice organization Urban Peace Movement, tragically passed away in August from a rare autoimmune disease. The Steinfirst Award will be presented to Urban Peace Movement on his behalf in recognition of the impactful work he did for the organization and our community. The event is scheduled for October 17th, 2018 from 6-9pm in the beautiful Oakland Museum of California. A special reception will be held from 6-7:30pm. The program will begin at 7:30pm in the museum’s exclusive James Moore Theater to be concluded with coffee and desserts in the Lillie Education Center.
